DownLine Men’s Summit and other happenings

ust wanted to give you an update about how things are going. This weekend was long and tiring, but very successful! We had over 700 men attend the conference to learn about discipleship: in the home, how to be a disciple, and what disicpling looks like.

There was a lot of great feedback and DownLine is already looking forward to our women’s summit coming up this October 27-29, 2011.
Currently, I have 2 monthly supporters and look forward to how God is going to provide and the relationships I will be able to grow through this process. Thanks for your prayers and please consider financially partnering me in my journey with DownLine!
Also, only 61 days until I get to marry my wonderful fiance, Amanda. Please continue to pray for us as we continue to work towards marriage and being God-focused.

Moving to the Hood

This past year I lived in a house with 4 other guys going the DownLine Ministries discipleship program in a nicer part of town. I finished and graduate in may and this month I have moved to a new house with a new group of guys that are going through the program. I will be the house manager, meaning that I will make sure everyone is paying their bills, cleaning up after themselves, etc. I am excited about the new guys I will be living with and the area I am living in. It is an inner city neighborhood called Binghampton. There is a lot of crime, gangs, drug dealing, etc. – it is less than a mile from the church I work for and a great ministry opportunity. I am working with the youth group at my church and some of the kids live here so I get to spend time with them during the week and pour into them which is great because a lot of them don’t have fathers or even good male role models. God is doing a great work in this neighborhood and I’m really excited to be a part of it!

St. Louis

Last weekend I made a roadtrip to St. Louis with a group of men from my church. It was a lot of fun, we saw 2 Cardinals games, played lots of poker (in the presidential suite), and got to go up in the arch!

Its only a 4 hour drive, which isn’t too bad. I got to ride up there with my roommate Zack, friends Hassam and Chad, and new friend Dr. Brown. We had a good time traveling to and from and Zack and I got some great wisdom and insight from everyone else in the car, since we were the young single guys.

That is definitely something I have really loved about living here in Memphis, I am making great relationships with older men that really care about me and my future and want to spend time investing in me. God has really blessed my time here and made it fruitful. I really enjoy the men’s stuff we do at Fellowship, its given me a chance to connect with some awesome guys in my church. This weekend coming up is our men’s 360 Bible study, I’m looking forward to it!
